How Hogalytics collects, uses, and protects information.

This Privacy Policy explains how Hogalytics handles information when you use the Hogalytics mobile application on iOS or Android. By using the app, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Scope

This policy applies to the Hogalytics mobile app. It covers information collected through the app itself, information you choose to enter into the app, and information retrieved from your PostHog workspace when you use the app's features.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Your PostHog personal API key, which you enter to connect your PostHog account.
  • Your selected PostHog cloud region and project selection.
  • Any information you include when contacting us by email.

Information stored on your device

Hogalytics stores the following locally on your device so the app can function between sessions:

  • Your PostHog API key.
  • Your selected region and project IDs.
  • Your selected theme preference.

Information retrieved from PostHog

When you use the app, it sends requests to the PostHog APIs for the region you selected and may retrieve:

  • Organization and project metadata.
  • Event definitions and analytics query results.
  • Session recording metadata and replay-sharing tokens.
  • Shared replay pages shown inside the app or in your browser.

Analytics and diagnostics

Hogalytics uses PostHog analytics to understand app usage, improve reliability, and guide product decisions. This may include app lifecycle events, device and app metadata, navigation activity, and session replay data.

In the current app configuration, app session replay masking is not fully enabled. That means on-screen text and images shown in the app may be captured in replay data collected for analytics.

Information we do not request

The app does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, photos, or precise location. The app requires internet access to communicate with PostHog and related services.

3. How We Use Information

  • To authenticate your connection to PostHog and display the data you ask the app to show.
  • To remember your settings and make the app easier to use across sessions.
  • To improve app stability, performance, usability, and feature quality.
  • To respond to questions, bug reports, and support requests.

4. How Information Is Shared

We do not sell your personal information. We may share or process information in the following ways:

  • With PostHog, which is used both as the workspace API provider you connect to and as the app analytics/session replay service provider.
  • With Apple and Google when you use platform features such as app distribution, ratings, reviews, or store listings.
  • With service providers that support the operation, security, or delivery of the app or this website, as needed.
  • If required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the service.

5. Data Retention

  • Local app data remains on your device until you update it, clear the app's local data, or uninstall the app.
  • Information fetched from your PostHog workspace is handled according to the retention settings and policies that apply to your PostHog environment.
  • App analytics and replay data are retained according to our PostHog configuration and operational needs.

6. Your Choices

  • You can choose not to provide a PostHog API key, but core app features will not work without it.
  • You can update your API key, region, and project selections within the app.
  • You can remove locally stored data by clearing app data on your device or uninstalling the app.
  • You can contact us to ask privacy-related questions at hogalytics@cannappy.org.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No method of storage, transmission, or security control is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

Hogalytics is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can review the issue.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Hogalytics after an update means you accept the revised policy.
